About

I’m an Emmy and Peabody award winning documentary filmmaker and co-founder of Documist, a production company based in NYC and Toronto. My work mostly focuses on environmental conflict and migration.

I produced Alex Pritz’s feature documentary The Territory (Sundance 2022), which was acquired by National Geographic Documentary Films and went on to win two Sundance awards, a Primetime Emmy for ‘Exceptional Merit in Documentary Filmmaking’, and a Peabody Award. It was also nominated for 7x Cinema Eye Awards, 3x Critics Choice Awards, a Gotham Award, and was shortlisted for the Academy Awards. I directed, shot, and edited the hybrid short Squid Fleet (Visions du Réel 2023), which won 10 awards and was nominated for a Golden Frog at Camerimage. I edited and produced Jack Weisman and Gabriela Osio Vanden’s short doc Nuisance Bear (TIFF 2022), which won over 25 awards including the Critics Choice Award and Cinema Eye Honors, was nominated for 2x Documentary Emmy Awards, IDA Awards, and Canadian Screen Awards, and was shortlisted for the Academy Awards.

Before that, I worked primarily on short films and digital features for outlets including the National Geographic, the Economist, the New York Times, The Guardian, the New Yorker, NBC, and the BBC. I have also worked extensively for commercial and non-profit clients around the world.

One thing I truly enjoy is teaching and sharing the craft of documentary. I have worked on a range of participatory multimedia projects in the US, Canada, Kenya, Haiti, the Philippines, and Brazil; from art projects for kids, to evidentiary techniques for human rights defenders, to masterclasses for aspiring cinematographers. I taught part-time at the East African Film Academy as well as the Aga Khan Graduate School of Media & Communications, and have given dozens of workshops around the world.

I’ve worked in over 30 countries and speak English and Spanish fluently, as well as Portuguese and French conversationally.
